One of the questions I get asked most often is whether it’s worth hiring a photographer for your proposal. My answer is always the same: absolutely.
A proposal only happens once. There are no do-overs, no second chances to capture the surprise, the reaction, or the emotion of the moment. It’s one of the most intimate and significant milestones in your relationship! And having those memories preserved by a professional photographer allows you to relive them for years to come.
I am always honored when someone trusts me to photograph a proposal, especially at a place as beautiful as Signor Vineyards. Louis knew he wanted a setting that felt special for this moment, and Signor was the perfect choice. Sitting in the rolling hills outside Fredericksburg, it feels a world away from Austin despite being an easy drive from the city.
I had been helping Louis plan the surprise for weeks, so by the time proposal day arrived, I was almost as excited as he was. He was nervous in the sweetest way, pacing a little and checking his watch, but the second Sarah walked beneath the vine-covered arch, everything else disappeared. Louis completely surprised Sarah when he dropped to one knee. After our portraits, they immediately pulled out their phones and started FaceTiming family to share the news. The excitement, the happy tears, and the giant smiles that neither of them could stop are the moments that make proposal photography so meaningful.

Austin Proposal Photographer
As an Austin proposal photographer, one of my biggest goals is making sure you can stay fully present during the proposal itself. You shouldn’t be worrying about where to stand, whether the lighting is right, or how you’ll remember the moment afterward. That’s my job. I help guide the planning process beforehand so that when the time comes, all you have to focus on is each other.
After the proposal, we spent time exploring Signor Vineyards together. We wandered through the gardens, photographed portraits among the vines, and finished with a glass of wine inside the Members Lounge while the excitement of the moment began to settle in. These portraits become so much more than announcement photos. They become part of your story.
One of the things I love most about proposal photography is that every couple experiences the moment differently. Some cry. Some laugh. Most are completely speechless. But every reaction is real, and those authentic emotions are what make these photographs so meaningful. For Sarah and Louis, this proposal was just the beginning. Next spring, I’ll join Betts & Co. to photograph the next chapter of their story: their wedding day.
If you’re considering proposing and wondering whether to hire a photographer, I encourage you to think about how you want to remember the moment. Long after the nerves fade and the ring is on their finger, these photographs will remain. Together, we’ll create an experience that feels thoughtful, personal, and true to your story, while preserving every emotion along the way.
