As a wedding photographer, one of my favorite things to photograph are multi-event weddings. Especially when it fuses two cultures together. I’m always honored to capture multicultural celebrations that embrace heritage, personal style, and deep-rooted connection. And that is exactly what I got to experience with Priya and Jake’s wedding at The Junior League Houston and The Houstonian. Whether I’m photographing a wedding weekend in Austin, a Sangeet in the Hill Country, or a reception under chandeliers in Houston, I approach each celebration with the same goal: to tell your story with care, beauty, and attention to detail.
A Weekend Rooted in Culture and Connection
Priya and Jake’s wedding was a heartfelt blend of tradition and modern elegance. With two ceremonies, one Hindu and one Christian, they got to fully embrace both cultures. I love photographing wedding weekends like this, where we get to document not just one moment, but the full arc of the celebration. From the vibrant baraat entrance to the joyful reception dance floor!
Their wedding weekend began with a traditional Hindu ceremony at the Junior League of Houston, where the rich colours and symbolism of Indian culture came to life. The groom made his entrance on horseback for the baraat, while Priya stunned in a white beaded lehenga, paired with a striking emerald and gold necklace and maang tikka. Jake wore a crisp white sherwani with red accents and a red and gold embroidered shawl.
The Houstonian Wedding Ceremony & Reception
Later that evening, the celebration moved to The Houstonian, one of Houston’s most iconic venues. After a cloudy morning, the sun broke through just in time for the Christian ceremony, which took place outdoors beneath a canopy of twinkle-lit Texas Live Oak. A soft semicircle of flowers framed the altar, and when Priya walked down the aisle with her father, every guest could feel the emotion.
The reception took place inside the Grand Ballroom, a space full of elegance with 16-foot ceilings and legacy crystal chandeliers. The entire evening felt effortlessly chic yet deeply personal. Priya changed into a custom David Peck gown, a strapless A-line silhouette embroidered with delicate floral details, while Jake wore a classic black tuxedo and velvet loafers. Their first dance to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne set the tone for the rest of the night: heartfelt and joyful. Sequined cowboy hats and heart sunglasses made their way to the dance floor as the band kept everyone moving late into the night.
