Colorful affairs will always have a place in my heart, and Stephanie and Rob’s backyard wedding featured not just color but incredible design and detail! They had to replan their wedding, and decided to use their backyard as the venue for their intimate wedding. Lovely Day Events worked with the couple to transform their home into a stunning spring garden, complete with a 17-foot swing covered in blooms. Not only was this wedding featured in Brides Of Austin, but also recently on Ruffled.
A Cocktail Style Backyard Wedding Reception
When planning the layout of the wedding, the couple wanted it to be centered around their oak tree. They wanted the environment to be casual but polished with curated pieces, so it felt warm and familiar. As Lovely Day Events told Ruffled, “Every component of Stephanie and Rob’s wedding was thoughtfully crafted to be unconventional, both in design and structure. Since we held their nuptials in the backyard of their home, we needed to maximize the space to utilize for both the ceremony and reception. Therefore, we curated a cocktail-style wedding with various lounge areas, scattered high and low cocktail tables, and just a handful of traditional table settings.”

Colorful Details Throughout
Every single detail was tied perfectly together, including their stationery by Boarding School Collective. The fresh green and white palette set the tone, while the wax seal featured their cherished oak tree that would be the backdrop of the wedding.
For the ceremony arch, the couple wanted something that could be enjoyed at the reception. So they had a custom 17-foot arch created, with a swing set in the middle. The arch was covered in pink and orange flowers, with baby’s breath adding texture and whimsy. Instead of roses down the aisle, the couple brought in moss to add something natural.
The bright color palette of marigold, tangerine, sweet pea and honey was tied in throughout. The seated ceremony featured mismatched mid-century chairs and lounges in various metals and fabrics. Additional cocktail seating included fun wicker chairs, glass-topped tables, and plenty of rugs. I love how all of the fabrics and materials played together and created a gorgeous setting.
A Creative Guest Experience
Stephanie and Rob wanted the guest experience to also stand out, and made sure that everything was curated to make it perfect. Guests enjoyed a coffee bar for custom drinks, which they loved. Tables were mixed in with lounges for a true cocktail layout. This ensured all of the backyard areas were used to create the best flow. Their wedding cake even had four different flavors so everyone could enjoy, and they had custom cookies made with their Frenchies on them! I am so glad I got to photograph this sweet wedding, and would love to work with you to photograph yours! Reach out, and let’s start planning!
