There is no better reason to put together a styled shoot than when a brand-new venue arrives in Austin—especially a venue as incredible as The Arlo! With its modern design and laidback elegance, it will certainly host weddings and events of all sizes. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country between downtown Austin and Dripping Springs, it also fills a luxury venue void. It is clear that every detail of the space was carefully planned to exist in harmony with the natural landscape. In addition, we are so excited to feature a real-life couple in this shoot, Katie and Micah! The love they share and their excitement to be a part of the shoot jump out of every image. They were truly a joy to photograph!
Be sure to check out this shoot’s feature on the Style Me Pretty blog.
Austin Vendors’ Take on Modern Romance
Lexie from 787 Event Design & Production brought so much creativity to this romantic affair. To inform her design, she put together a modern color palette featuring shades of mauve, rust, honey, and blush. Here and there, pacific blue accents paired with the warmer tones to create contrast, and the effect was striking! Her design summed up the inspiration we felt when we saw The Arlo for the first time, while still evoking luxury and romance.
Meanwhile, Peach Paper Design crafted some incredible custom stationery to fit our theme of ‘modern romance.’ Each piece in the invitation suite was printed on a different colored paper to give guests a glimpse into the color story of the wedding day. It was the perfect way to combine their talents and Lexie’s!
To style Katie and Micah, we worked with Caleigh from Chillann Styling. She is a talented wardrobe stylist here in Austin who often styles couples for engagement shoots, weddings, and events. She selected a tailored white tuxedo from The Suit Shop for Katie, which she paired with a blush button-down. For Micah, she chose the Elora gown by Madi Lane Bridal. With its soft off-the-shoulder sleeves and lace motifs, it was a dream to photograph. And, Micah could not have looked more stunning! To complete the look, Caleigh selected The Esther kitten heel from Bella Belle. The tulle bows on the shoes paired flawlessly with the tulle of Micah’s skirt, while their beaded lace details complemented the gown’s lace accents.
Event Design Inspired by The Arlo
The couple’s intimate ceremony took place on the lawn and featured a showstopping floral installation by Gypsy Floral! Afterward, we all headed to The Courtyard where a styled cocktail hour awaited us. A rosy pink couch provided a place to rest while tying the pink hues of the flowers into the decor. Armless mid-century-inspired chairs also beckoned to guests and highlighted the clean lines of the venue’s floor-to-ceiling windows. All around, thoughtful design inspired by the venue was evident.
Florals were also a design centerpiece of the shoot, and Gypsy Floral did not disappoint. All throughout the day she created the most picturesque scenes with blooms of blush, peach, and mauve. In addition, her handpicked bouquet for Micah was exceptionally lovely. Blush blooms of all shapes and sizes mingled with green stems and white magnolias for a look that was whimsical, romantic, and filled with texture!
Outdoor Reception in the Texas Hill Country
For the reception, we aimed to create an intimate, al-fresco dining experience. We also wanted the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country to take center stage. A pacific blue velvet tablecloth covered the long table, which was styled with gold-and-white cutlery and round menus. Organic floral compotes were also placed along the table, while peach taper candles lent a soft glimmer to the entire scene. The finished product was truly the most stunning marriage of ‘modern’ and ‘romance’! Finally, for a sweet finish to the day, Iced Cakes ATX created a culinary work of art. Their five-tiered cake featured ribbed frosting to match the texture of the candles, while round sugar details cascaded along the sides to tie into the unique round menus.
It was such an honor to be a part of this shoot and capture the work of my fellow Austin vendors—and a real-life couple! I cannot wait to see what is in store for The Arlo and shoot there again in the future. To learn more about my work and upcoming availability, inquire here!
