welcome. Thanks for stopping by!  This is my brand-new, totally amazing blog.  I am pumped to be able to share my voice and my photography with the whole wide world.  My name is Julie Wilhite and I am a portrait/wedding photographer based out of Houston, TX.  That's right, I'm a Texan...and I promise I don't ride a horse to work everyday.  Feel free to take a look around, maybe even drop me a note.  Would love to hear from you!

When my cousin Virginia and her husband D'Arcy told us they were expecting we were ecstatic. When little Moses was born, we were BEYOND ecstatic. When I finally got to meet him...I fell in love as everyone else has. With his bubbly personality, contagious laugh and his muscley little body - he wraps you around his little finger in mere seconds. He is pure happiness in this world.

Here are some shots I grabbed the first time I visited Dallas to meet the new little man in our lives...

Some of you might have been relaxing or barbecuing or laying by the pool in Mexico this weekend...while I was working my little tail off.  This was one of my busiest weekends yet and I LOVED every minute of it.  Minus the soreness in my shoulders from holding my camera up.

I had TWO weddings this weekend and one was three days full of celebration.  I promise to blog more soon, but here is a sneak peek of the coming awesomeness...

Photography is a powerful thing. I feel it's purpose is not only to beautify the world by capturing things that are most precious, but also to educate and make the world aware of some of the most tragic occurrences. I have been reading the news more thoroughly this morning and my heart is breaking for the victims in Haiti. From the comfort of my living room, I have absolutely no idea how they may feel and how their lives have been forever changed. Photography gives me an image, a picture of the horror that is occurring. Although, I wish I could jump on a plane and help, I know that is not realistic. But I can give, give to others that are able to reach out and make a difference.

Thanks for reminding everyone how we can help Julie! $10 can really go a long way if we all contribute.

Anna and Josh's wedding was everything a person could ask for. A little bit of wind was not going to stop anyone - the sun was shining, a beautiful bride was beaming and a groom awaited that was the definition of calm. Anna and Josh have always seemed like puzzle pieces to me, they are just meant to fit together. The ceremony was filled with secret glances and you could barely find them separated at the reception that followed. I think everyone in the room had been waiting for this day for a very long time...

Since they have been together since middle school, some of the typical traditions were thrown to the wind, such as not seeing each other until the ceremony, and I was so excited to be there to document it! To capture the intimate moment when they finally see each other all put together for the day they have been planning for so long...

The talented Kimberly Brooke shot this wedding with me at the gorgeous Tuscany Villa.

The ceremony was timed perfectly with the sun beginning to set behind them. It was incredible to watch. Then, the true party began!

They threw snowflakes at the end, isn't that perfect for December??

Thank you, Anna and Josh, for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful day, congratulations!!

Today I woke up excited. I've been dragging myself around these last couple of weeks trying to get over the post-holiday blues and today I woke up cured. The sun was shining brighter than yesterday and the day seemed filled with possibilities.

I have been starting to take a pen to paper lately to write down my goals for 2010. If you don't physically write down goals every year, you need to start. There is something about that physical act, seeing it written down in ink that forces me to make them come true. For me, my goals surround being true to who I am, continuing to grow as a photographer in any way possible and doing whatever I do that day to my fullest. I'm holding these goals close to my chest and keeping them hot on my mind. I will make them come true this year and maybe (just MAYBE) I will surpass them all. A girl can dream, right?

What are your goals for 2010?

And because a post is always better with a picture, this is where all the action happens for me...

good for you Julie! I'm a strong believer in writing your goals down. I completed a vision board on New Years Eve; I can't wait to see what this year holds for us. All the best and good luck! :-)
