I had the honor to photograph our friends Jorge and Brian with their adorable dog, Apollo, aka "Po." Recently, Jorge and Brian were given devastating news that Po is sick. He went through surgery to make him more comfortable, but Jorge and Brian have been doing their best to shower him with love and make him the happiest puppy around in the precious time they have left with him.
When I first got to their house to start to the shoot, Po looked at me warily. He had a look in his eye, like "What are you here for..." I was told that he was not a huge fan of the camera and usually heads in the opposite direction of camera clicks. I hid behind walls and sometimes stayed far behind to make sure he was comfortable. Towards the end of our shoot, he was so happy from all the loving he was receiving from his favorite people - Jorge and Brian - that he didn't mind me being there at all.
The one where he looks at the camera and smiles...makes my heart melt everytime....
