welcome. Thanks for stopping by!  My name is Julie Wilhite and I am a portrait/wedding photographer based out of Houston, TX.  That's right, I'm a Texan...and I promise I don't ride a horse to work everyday.  Feel free to take a look around, maybe even drop me a note.  Would love to hear from you!

I apologize for my lack of blogging this week.  :( Our house has been lovingly under construction, which for me, meant no tv and no internet.  What is a girl to do? THEN, I got sick. Sigh. Sometimes life throws everything at once.

One thing that has kept me upbeat is Temper Trap.  My sister Cindy (congrats on her music taste!) introduced me to them. The song Sweet Disposition (my absolutely favorite) is also on the movie (500) Days of Summer.  It is heaven.  I promise, they are the answer to your prayers to make it through a dreary day or an entire dreary winter.
  Check them out here.

I had a wonderful weekend...filled with family, friends and BABIES. Now before my Mom starts getting all excited about baby fever, I want to say aloud that I am not ready to welcome my own little wee one to the family, but I definitely enjoy snuggling, kissing and loving on babies.  I went to Dallas this past weekend to meet my cousin's new baby, Moses, and one of my oldest friends new baby, Wyatt. Both babies are so adorable.  Since I wasn't there when they were both born, they are both around 3 to 4 months and giggling and laughing up a storm. Moses was even holding himself up!  His muscles were amazing!

Here is a sneak peek of my favorites.  Here is little baby Moses:

Just wanted to tell everyone happy Friday!  I am off to hang out in Dallas for the weekend with my cousin. Time for relaxation and meeting the new babies that have joined this world. Don't worry, I'm bringing my camera. I loooove shooting babies.

Here is a little jumping action to get your Friday started. Just in case you were wondering if we were happy to be in South Africa...

Due to Mallory's early morning chanting, I decided to post the lion video. :) All of the other safari videos you see with corny statements and "WOWs" escaping multiple times is true for my video as well.  I also do not plan on a career in videography, so I know my video won't be winning any awards. But I promise, it will make your jaw drop!

After many, many hours in the air getting to South Africa and then many, many hours in the car driving to Kruger National Park...you can imagine our euphoric feeling of relief and happiness when we finally arrived at our camp. We stayed at Letaba and although I thought we would be "roughing" it in the bush, the house ended up being huge and incredibly comfortable and plush.  Just what we needed as ground zero as we cruised through the park looking for animals during the day and braaied (South African BBQ) by night.

It rained quite a lot on our first day in the park. At first, we sighed with our unluck, but it turned out to be the best thing to happen to us. It had not rained in the park for 6 months and the animals found the rain rejuvenating and fun.  This meant we saw more animals than we ever even dreamed!  Rhinos, Buffalos, Monkeys, Hippos, Elephants, Giraffes, Kudu, Springbok and a Lion actually feasting on a recently killed Buffalo.  Craziness!

I guess I should first introduce you to our crew.  As I share more of my images from our trip (I hope you don't mind!), you will see them many times:  Left to Right, Up and Down. My newly-engaged sister Erica, husband-to-be Evan, trip planner extraordinaire and sister Cynthia, hubbie Chris, cousin Ann and new British/South African friend Kate. Oh yeah, and me.

I know these are a little graphic, but I could not help but share. It was absolutely jaw-dropping to watch. I felt like I was watching Planet Earth!  I have a video, but I will save that for the individuals with strong stomachs :)

We also had a family of Vervet monkeys that visited us one morning. While I was still scrounging for coffee, Evan grabbed the top shot - love it!
